Traditional Sweets - Traditional Service
Edwards Emporium opened on 13th February 2009, and yes it was a Friday . . . David Edwards (the Proprietor) had wanted to run a sweet shop from a young age, and following his recovery from a period of illness figured that there was no time like the present.
After six months of searching to find the right shop, he found the perfect place in what had been Gauntlets Book Shop. After 30 years of service to the people of Boston Gauntlets had closed it doors, leaving the space available.
The building is over 200 years old and is Grade 2 listed, so what better place for a Traditional sweet shop giving an old fashioned style of service. Not only was the building full of character, but it had an old style bay window to display the jars of sweets in.
Even with stock in reserve, a sweet shop required no where near the amount of space the shop had available. David was wondering what to do with the space when he had the bright idea of using the well lit rooms as a gallery for local Artists. The shop had been open for less than a month but on the 1st March 2009 the Gallery was opened and Boston Art Group took their place as it's Resident Artists.
